ATV Trip: Siren, WI to International Falls, MN: Day 2

Written by David Glassman

Screen Shot 2012 06 12 at 9.44.04 AMMonday was a good day and we logged 130 miles. The day started out early. We left Moose Lake at 6:30am, due to the nice weather, and arrived at the Palace Casino between Cass Lake and Bemidji at 4:30pm. The trails were excellent due to overnight rain, no dust and smooth.

We had the pleasure of seeing a mother bear and her two cubs! They sure look big when they stand up on their rear legs! We also had a surprise when we came upon a herd of steers (cattle) on the trail. We made a stop and told some locals so they could find the owners.

We did our civic duty a number of times by removing a half of a dozen trees off of the trail system, which where blown down from Sunday night's storms. In our 130 miles, we ran into two different pairs of riders. One pair was just starting out on the trail system and we had to rescue the other couple as one of them crashed off trail. We helped them retrieve their machine and made sure they were ok and we were back on our way.

The ATVs (Can Am Outlander G2 XT and 3 Polaris Sportsman’s) are running great with the exception of two flat tires (puncture holes) on the Can Am caused by the nature of the trail. The GPS system is working great and you can see where we were in this picture on Monday. Tuesday will be tougher because the trail system will be more challenging. With another 130 miles, it will probably be a long day. Keep looking for updates and thanks for following us!

Happy Trails,
The Crew
