Thinking about getting into ATVing!

As an avid motorsports enthusiast, I deemed it necessary to write a blog on how to get into the exciting sport of atving! Listed below is the introduction to the types of ATV riding that you can choose from across the U.S.
  • Trail Riding: Comes in many forms: Woods, Rocks, Mud, Sand, Hills, Flat, Fast, Technical, and the list can go on and on. It is important to know what your limits are and what types of conditions you will face on your local trails.
  • The Mud Bogger: Mud Bogging: Many ATV enthusiasts face mud covered trails regardless of searching for it or not. You need to be sure that your ATV is capable for these riding conditions and that you can safely commit to these trails.
  • The Sand Duner: Sand Dunes: Although most riders are not conveniently located by a local sand dune, they attract hundreds of thousands of enthusiasts a year and make a very fun type of terrain to ride on.
  • Racers: Track Riding: Many sport quad riders get into riding their atv on a track. Tracks are filled with multiple types of terrain to challenge the atv and rider. Whoops, burms, Jumps, kickers and more.

As you read through the list above, picture yourself in each of these environments. Which sounds like the best fit for you? You can definitely enjoy each of these riding styles, but if you can find a top 2 of the bunch this will help you narrow your search for the style of ATV you may want to purchase. This brings us into the next list we will go through. Types of ATVs.
  • The 4x4: The four-wheel drive atv is typically the most commonly chose machine. Its capability has numerous facets. The 4x4 can be work and play. Putting all brands aside, this style of atv has the ability to satisfy the most of the atv demographic. Fitting the needs of hauling, towing, trail riding, plowing and more.
  • The Sport ATV: This machine is built for race performance. There are several different styles of this machine. Acceleration, speed, manuverability, jumping, racing and more. The smaller models of the sport quad offer a light, reliable machine for a wide variety of riders and conditions.
  • The two-up: The dual passenger ATV is newer to the market and offers a legal safe way to ride with your companion who also enjoys atving. Generally you will find the two-up machine to be a larger and more plush 4x4 quad. These machines are not limit to just trail riding, some built on the same platform as the best work/mud machines around.
